The first is an ear canal check and the second is an ambient sound check.

An ear canal check will occur after you and the technician sit down. The technician will look inside your ear canals to make sure that it is free of ear wax. Excessive ear wax can hinder sound from reaching your eardrum, lessening your ability to hear. If there is too much ear wax in your ears, we may be unable to perform the hearing test. Ear wax can be removed by a physician if necessary.

An ambient sound check will occur right after checking your canal for ear wax. To be eligible for Hear At Home USA’s hearing test, you need to have a quiet space to test in. We can test your hearing from the bed, the garden, the living room couch, or even the kitchen as long as it is a quiet environment. If you live near a Freeway, construction site, or any other relatively loud space we may be unable to test your hearing at home.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text 0=””]

There is no pass or fail in a hearing test. 

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text 0=””]While the technician clears your environment, you will meet our hearing professional via video chat. We will provide the proper equipment to meet with them. Your hearing professional will ask you some “lifestyle” questions that are designed to discover the specific types of environments in which you may be experiencing hearing loss and hearing problems. This helps our audiologist develop a personalized hearing evaluation.

Once the test begins, you will wear studio-quality (flat) headphones and communicate with your hearing professional via video chat as before.  Our computers will feed you quiet tones (frequencies) in each ear, and you will acknowledge when you hear them by raising the correct hand. We then use a specific speech at different volumes to hone in on your hearing challenges. During this comprehensive test, we can create an audiogram of your SPECIFIC hearing. The audiogram reflects your hearing loss in frequencies and decibels. It is a map of your specific hearing health.
